Pierre Burke, DVM, MVSc

President

Dr. Pierre Burke decided to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian after working for many years in the hospitality industry.  The path to his goal began in 2004 at Thompson Rivers University, where he completed an Animal Health Technology diploma. Dr. Burke continued his educational pursuit at the Atlantic Veterinary College (AVC), where he completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. It was during his time at AVC when he realized his love of diagnostic imaging and began the steps necessary to specialize in the field. After graduating from AVC, Dr. Burke was accepted into Auburn University’s Small Animal Medicine and Surgery Rotating Internship in Alabama. His path then took him to Washington State University (WSU), where he was selected for a three-year residency in Diagnostic Imaging, completing it in 2017. During his time at WSU Dr. Burke also completed a Master’s of Veterinary Science degree studying triplex Doppler ultrasound in feline acute kidney injury.

Before beginning his educational journey, Dr. Burke and his wife, Kathryn Burke, called Victoria home and they are excited to be back on the island to put down roots and join the veterinary community. In his spare time Dr. Burke loves to snowboard and play golf, as well as spend time hiking, travelling, and paddle boarding with Kathryn and their dog.
